In this four part, mini-unit students will learn all about ladybugs. Using ladybugs as an example, students will gain an understanding of insects and about their role in the environment. The first lesson focuses on ladybug anatomy, the second on the lifecyle of ladybugs, the third on habitat and the final on the role ladybugs have in organic agriculture.

Objectives:
- Be able to name the parts of an insect and ladybugs in particular
- Understand the life cycle of ladybugs
- Understand the definition of habitat
- Understand the role ladybugs have in organic agriculture
Materials Needed:
- Drawing paper
- Drawing materials (colored pencils, crayons, markers)
- A large jar for each student
- A collection of leaves and small sticks
- A ladybug for each student
- Store-bought aphids (can be purchased at a local pet store)
- Spray bottle full of water
